Scholarship policy for students taking new admissions at Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences
Preamble
In line with the Skill India Mission, Symbiosis Foundation has established a Skill Development University at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, namely “Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences (SUAS), Indore”.
The state-of-the art University campus has specialized laboratories and workshops having skill training equipment, machines and Centre of Excellence in collaboration with top companies. The University has developed a unique skill development model suitable for our country and offers various skill-based courses from certificate to degree level. The skill development initiative of the University has been immensely successful and thousands of students have successfully completed various programs. As a social responsibility the University has declared a scholarship policy for meritorious students, economically weaker section students and women applicants aspiring to pursue education.
Objectives of the Scheme
1. To provide educational opportunities to meritorious students and students from economically weaker sections of the society, girl students from poor financial/economic background and others.
2. To promote skill based education amongst students.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Scholarship will be applicable for Boys & Girls who take admission at SUAS, Indore. ii. Marks secured in 10th, 12th, Diploma, Vocational courses and Degree.
2. It shall be applicable for all students who take admission in the Undergraduate and Post graduate programs of particular Academic Year.
3. Scheme shall not be applicable for students taking lateral admission to any program at SUAS.
4. The family income should be less than or equal to Rs. 8.0 lacs per annum.
Scheme of Scholarship
The scholarship is applicable to the Undergraduate (UG) and Post graduate programmes offered at SUAS, Indore. The eligibility for scholarship is mentioned below for students who are seeking admission for UG/PG courses at SUAS. The eligibility for scholarship doesn’t entitle every student to be given scholarships but it will be depending on the number of actual scholarships available for each school at UG/PG courses. The sanction of scholarship can be either under Merit Scholarship Category or under Other Category but not both:
Merit Scholarship Category:
The student will pay 50% of the academic fees under the Merit Scholarship category. This scholarship will not be applicable to Hostel Fees, Bus Fees or other fees/charges. This scholarship will be extended to consecutive year subject to the condition that the student maintain a minimum of 8.5 CGPA of marks for every year. The following candidates will be eligible for scholarship under Merit category for the total number of seats mentioned against each school under the said category.
1. A candidate having 85 to 100 percentage in 121h or equivalent shall be eligible for the merit scholarship. The details of number of seats with scholarships are mentioned in Table – A.
2. A candidate having JEE ranking up to 15,000 under general category shall be eligible for the merit scholarship. The details of number of seats with scholarships are mentioned in Table – A.
3. A candidate having State level entrance test ranking up to 1,000 under general category shall be eligible for the merit scholarship. The details of number of seats with scholarships are mentioned in Table – A.
4. The 5 toppers of each state level entrance exams for 12th Degrees conducted by State Governments will be eligible for scholarships.
5. For PG programs, candidate shall have undergraduate marks of 75% or above in a recognized degrees program
6. For MBA scholarship, candidate shall have CAT – 85 percentile / SNAP – 80 percentile / XAT – 80 percentile.
Other Scholarship Category:
The student will pay 75% of the academic fees under the “other scholarship” category. This scholarship will not be applicable to Hostel Fees, Bus Fees or other fees/charges. This scholarship will be extended to consecutive year subject to the condition that the student maintains to secure a minimum of 7 CGPA of marks for every year. The following candidates will be eligible for scholarship under other category for the limited number of seats mentioned against each school under the said category.
1. Students belonging to EWS category.
2. Candidate who has studied at least one vocational subject at 12th std or Degree level iii. Women applicants who are seeking admissions to the School of Mechatronics and B.Sc Data Science
Conditions for Scholarship
1. This scheme shall be applicable from Academic Year 2024-25
2. The Scholarship will be purely based on merit basis for Scholarship under Merit Category.
3. The Scholarship under “Other Category” will be purely based on proof and original documents as proof for the category claimed for.
4. The applicability of schemes to a program shall be decided by the University and Management for each Academic Year. The decision of the University and Management in this regard shall be final.
5. Student availing scholarship under “Merit Scholarship” or “Other Category” scheme will not be eligible for any other scholarship of the University.
6. The award of scholarship for various program shall be decided and announced every year by the University.
7. University’s decision shall be final and binding on all.
8. While finalizing the merit list if two or more than two students have the same 12th standards plus score of entrance test and or score allotted by the University based on interview by selection committee, then the weighted average of academic score of 10th and 12th shall be considered for breaking the tie for award of scholarship and student with lower parental income shall be preferred.
9. While finalizing the merit list, decimal score of 0.5 or above shall be rounded off to next whole number. However, if there is any tie, it will be decided on the basis of real number.
10. This scheme will be applicable for higher academic years to only such students who were admitted under the scheme in academic year 2023-24 and Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria for scholarship must make a separate application to the University applying for the scholarship program.
11. The Management reserves its right to terminate this scheme at any stage.
Continuation of Scholarship
A candidate need to apply for continuation of scholarship in the subsequent year if and only if following conditions are fulfilled:
1. Students should clear all the subjects of all preceding semesters with minimum 8.5 CGPA for “Merit Category” and for “Other category” students should clear all the subjects of all preceding semesters with minimum 7 CGPA.
2. There should be no disciplinary case against the student inside or outside the University campus.
3. Student must have attendance of 95% and above.
4. Student should not have discontinued from education at any time in the University. v. Once the student loses the scholarship for any of the reasons mentioned above, the scholarship shall not be provided again in subsequent years. In such cases, student is required to pay the complete academic fee for all subsequent years.
5. Only students who are declared as admitted to next Academic Year of their program shall be eligible for the scheme.
Application Process
1. Each candidate is required to make separate application for scholarships under “Merit Category” or “Other Category” scheme for each program of the University.
2. Candidate should apply online on www.suas.ac.in
3. For continuation of scholarship, students need to apply before commencement of new Academic Year, with his/her result of previous academic year.
4. The University will declare a schedule of Admission under this scheme each year.
5. The application form should be submitted to the Registrar office along with necessary document on or before the date announced by the Registrar office.
Required Documents
1. Proof for the category under which scholarship is claimed.
2. Last Qualifying Exam Mark sheets.
3. Income Certificate less than Rs. 8.0 lacs per annum from Tahsildar / Other Competent Authority.
4. All original documents as proof of merit
5. If parents are in service, students must submit Salary Slips for last three months / Form-16 ITR filed with Income Tax. (Notarized declaration in case of non- availability of Form-16 or non-filling of ITR)
6. If parents are in business or profession, student must submit latest ITR. (Notarized declaration in case of non-filling of ITR)
Process by University on received forms
1. The application received under this scheme will be received by Registrar office.
2. The application will be scrutinized by the committee constituted by Vice-Chancellor of the University.
3. The committee will scrutinize the applications on the basis of Percentage of marks/SGPA of the student/Validity of Examination board etc.
4. To scrutinize the validity of certificate of economically weaker students issued by competent authority.
5. The decision of the committee regarding the scheme or any mis-interpretation or representation will be final.
6. Post scrutiny the committee will recommend the students eligible for the scholarship to the Vice Chancellor who shall place the same before Board of Management and Governing Body for approval.
